PEL Organization – Qamishlo
PEL Organization held a dialogue session entitled “The Importance of Community Participation in Enhancing the Role of Municipalities in Providing Public Hygiene Services”, on Monday, October 17, 2022, in its center in Qamishlo.
The participants discussed the most important elements of the public hygiene system, its laws, how committed are the citizens to it, and the challenges facing the municipality in securing public hygiene services, in order to extract appropriate proposals and solutions.
The attendees also discussed the impact of waste and landfills on public health, the environment and the population, the role of participatory in the local community in solving hygiene problems and their proper application, and the importance of community awareness in improving the level of public hygiene in the city.
The session comes within “Qamish” project, which aims to contribute to strengthening the capacities of citizens and municipalities. To achieve better participation and build peace and social cohesion in Al-Jazira region, with the aim of contributing to finding solutions to local challenges, improving the effectiveness of municipalities and strengthening their capacities; to better respond to the needs of local communities.
